Legion Technologies Expands AI-Powered Workforce Management
Legion Technologies expanded its workforce management platform with more than 75 new features in August 2025, introducing AI-powered scheduling, new AI Assistants, and on-demand shift offers.
The release targeted hourly workforces seeking to reduce administrative workloads while gaining greater flexibility in scheduling and workforce coordination. The announcement also highlighted the growing role of automation across workforce management operations.
For employers, HR Administration technology can simplify repetitive scheduling activities and workforce coordination while giving managers additional tools to manage daily workforce requirements.
AI-Powered Scheduling Supports Workforce Administration
The new productivity-based scheduling feature combines multiple workforce factors during schedule creation. These include productivity measures, employee skills, tenure, individual preferences, fairness rules, and compliance requirements.
The system incorporates these inputs into Legion’s Schedule Optimizer, allowing managers to balance staffing requirements with employee preferences and business objectives. This approach gives HR Administration teams additional capabilities for handling complex scheduling requirements while maintaining operational considerations.
Legion also introduced two AI Assistants focused specifically on scheduling activities. The AI Shift Edit Assistant allows managers to modify shifts through conversational interactions on mobile devices.
The AI Schedule Assistant provides schedule summaries, labor-hour trends, and recommendations for potential adjustments. Legion also introduced AI tools designed to support employee communications and multilingual workforce interactions.
Together, these capabilities can reduce manual work associated with routine HR Administration activities and help managers handle scheduling-related tasks more efficiently.
On-Demand Shifts Add Employee Self-Service
The August release also included on-demand shift offers for employees seeking additional available work. Employees can receive shift opportunities based on their skills, preferences, and availability, and can then accept or decline available shifts through the platform.
Managers can use these capabilities to fill open shifts while maintaining applicable compliance requirements. Employee self-service can also reduce coordination workloads for HR Administration teams and frontline managers by allowing workers to respond directly to available opportunities.
The release reflects broader investment in AI-enabled workforce management technology. Legion reported that many managers believe AI could simplify scheduling, while adoption remains limited.
The company positioned automation as a way to reduce repetitive tasks across hourly workforce operations. For global employers, HR Administration platforms may increasingly combine scheduling, employee communication, compliance, and self-service capabilities within connected workforce environments.
However, organizations will still need human oversight for workforce decisions and processes involving compliance-sensitive requirements. The combination of automation and human supervision remains important as employers introduce AI into workforce management operations.
